A naked woman braved more than embarrassment as she ran down the road after a thief believed to have stolen her purse at a sauna.

Bizarre footage shows a young woman wrapped in nothing but a towel dashing through the reception at the sauna in St Petersburg, Russia.

The CCTV footage shows her running out of the entrance to the baths and chasing the thief down the road, to the bemusement of stunned on-lookers.

Despite practically baring all, the woman doesn't appear too bothered about losing her loosely-fitting towel.

As she runs outside, another woman can be seen pointing her in the direction of the thief.

The naked vigilante is then knocked over as she tries to cling to the thief's car, before being dragged several feet.

Footage showed the brazen woman humiliate the man in the country's capital Bogota after he had earlier attempted to mug her at knifepoint.

But his furious victim hunted him down and disarmed him before exacting her revenge in public, making him strip off and run through the streets.

She orders him to remove his shorts and even his boxers and he is left sheepishly covering his privates with his hands.
