But as she faces the possibility of hundreds of dollars worth of fines, a witness has rushed to her defence, saying she gave the driver every opportunity to let her off.
The commuter, who requested to remain anonymous, told NewsHub the woman made it very clear she needed to get off.
The onlooker said she went up to the driver and told she was about to 'wet herself'.
'She asked the female driver several times, even saying that she didn't have to pull over, just open the doors for her to get out - but the driver refused.'
The bus was stationary at the time due to a build-up of traffic, the witness added.
In a video shared to Facebook, the woman squats in the middle of the bus, in front of a glass door, and urinates on the floor, exposing herself to people walking past.
The witness said pedestrians yelled at the woman, telling her she should be 'ashamed'.
Since traffic was banked back, pedestrians were walking past the bus constantly.
Auckland Transport, who on Sunday described the incident as 'not acceptable', said the woman needed to be held accountable.
A spokesperson for the public transport provider said the bus was a 'special event' schedule due to the concert, meaning absolutely no stops.
They also said there was a bus every five minutes, and the woman should have chosen to catch another if she needed to use a restroom.
New Zealand Police may now choose to fine the woman as much as $200 for public urination.
