Between 1980 and 1982, Paul Michael Stephani carried out a string of brutal attacks on women in Minnesota and Wisconsin, some of which ended in murder. One woman was found stabbed with an ice pick 61 times.
Another was found stabbed over 100 times. And chillingly, after many of these attacks, Stephani would call the local police, tearfully confessing his crimes — and begging the authorities to find him and stop him. The whiny, high-pitched tone of his voice in the calls, along with the cruelty of his attacks, led police to dub him the "Weepy-Voiced Killer."
